The PreACT test replaces the PLAN/EXPLORE tests for 9th and 10th graders and aligns more closely to the ACT.
Who should take it?
All TSAS sophomores will take the PreACT before October 31st.
What has changed?
The PreACT test replaces the Explore test (taken 8th or 9th grade) and the PLAN test (taken 10th). TSAS offered the ACT Aspire last year, but feel we that because the PreACT more closely resembles the testing environment of the ACT (and is finished in one day, not four!) it is more beneficial for our students. In order to reduce the number of tests we require of our students, we will provide this test to sophomores only.
What should I expect?
A comprehensive exam covering the four subjects tested on the actual ACT:
- English
- Math
- Reading
- Science
The questions are as difficult as the actual ACT, there are just fewer of them.
Because this is a diagnostic test, your colleges will never see your scores. You should expect to look over your results to make decisions about future classes to take.
How do I prepare?
Pay close attention in class, especially if the subject is one you have had difficulty with in the past. Ask questions as they arise and let the teacher know if you are not understanding the material.
How do I sign up?
No need. All sophomores will test during the above dates.
What does it cost?
There is no cost for TSAS students.
