Dr. Forsyth began his career teaching high school in New York City and subsequently taught graduate studies in school leadership and policy at OSU, Arizona State, Penn State, University of Missouri, and for the past 11 years he co-directed the Oklahoma Center for Education Policy at The University of Oklahoma. He holds a BA from Marist College, an MA from New York University, and an Ed.D. from Rutgers University.
His research has focused on collective trust properties of organizations and the application of self-determination theory to school reform. He has authored or edited eight books, including Collective Trust: Why Schools Can’t Improve Without It (with Curt M. Adams & Wayne K. Hoy; Teachers College Press, 2011).
Forsyth served for 15 years as the Executive Director of The University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA), Vice President of The American Educational Research Association’s (AERA) Division A, Administration, and co-founder and chair of The National Policy Board for Educational Administration, which initiated the establishment of national standards for the licensure of school administrators.

Ms. Garland is new to Tulsa, having moved from Berkeley, California as part of Tulsa Remote. She is a marketing manager for San Francisco-based brand Drop which is designed to source community-inspired products by tapping into the collective wisdom of passionate people.

Ms. Garland is fueled by passion and authenticity. In her professional pursuits, she is obsessed with bridging the gap between what customers seek and what brands deliver. She has a decade of experience in the field of social media marketing and brand development, and holds a degree from the University of Missouri in Journalism, Strategic Communication, and Textiles & Apparel Management.

In her free time, she enjoys baking, gardening, getting outdoors with her two dogs, and exploring everything Tulsa has to offer.

Thomas King (retired) was a Senior IT/Computing Technical Specialist with Phillips Petroleum Company.  Tom has 44 years experience in all aspects of Information Technology and Computing.  He has a B.S. in Applied Mathematics & Engineering (1976) from the University of Tulsa and numerous certifications in various programming languages, operating systems, and major software applications.

Tom grew up in the TSAS neighborhood and attended Roosevelt Jr. High, now the home of TSAS. His current interests and hobbies include community service, computer technology, photography, genealogy, and travel (40 countries visited so far). Tom is a Charter Member of the new First Americans Museum (FAM), a Gilcrease Museum Council member, attends seminars and educational events at the Helmerich Center for American Research at Gilcrease and the OU Center for Studies in Democracy and Culture, is a member of the Tulsa Alumni Association, has served on the Tulsa Alumni Association Board for 3 years, has chaired the Tulsa Alumni Association Athletics Committee for 4 years, is a supporter of the University of Tulsa College of Engineering and Natural Sciences (particularly the Math Circles STEM program), and was a member of the Athletic Director’s Circle of the Tulsa Golden Hurricane Club for 5 years.

Tom and his wife Judy have been married for 57 years and have one son.

Natalie O’Reilly is the Research Associate and Assessment Coordinator for University of Oklahoma’s School of Social Work. She also teaches in the online MSW program. Natalie’s primary research interests involve intergenerational poverty, healthcare outcomes and disparities, and education. 

Natalie graduated from Edison High School before moving to Ft. Collins, Colorado. She graduated with her BSW from Colorado State University, and from the University of Oklahoma with her MSW. While Natalie’s background is firmly rooted in social work, her love of research methodology and assessment led her to become certified in Qualtrics (statistical survey software).

Natalie is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and sits on the academic advisement board of Qualtrics. Natalie and her husband of over 20 years have two kids engaged in the TSAS community; Sophie is a recent graduate and Felix is in 11th grade.

Joseph Svetlic is currently Underwriting Counsel for First American Title Co. in Tulsa.  He also currently serves as the Staff Judge Advocate for the 90th Troop Command in the Oklahoma Army National Guard (OKARNG).  Mr. Svetlic was born in Kansas City, Missouri. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2002 and a J.D. from the University of Tulsa Sturm College of Law in 2005, writing for the Energy Law Journal.  Following law school, he began his career as a real estate attorney, primarily focused on title insurance for real estate transactions. He is a product of public schools in Kansas City.

Mr. Svetlic deployed to Ukraine in 2017 as the Command Judge Advocate, where his practice included Military Justice, Administrative Law, Fiscal Law, Claims, International & Operational Law, and Legal Assistance.  He had the distinct pleasure of directly training battalion-size Ukrainian units as to operational and domestic law.

Mr. Svetlic celebrated his 11th Anniversary with his wife Beth in December 2018.  He has three children: Luke, 8; Liz, 6; and Jake, 3. He makes his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and enjoys coaching his son’s baseball teams, doing horticulture on his yard, snow skiing in Colorado, and the KC Royals and Chiefs.

Angela Vivar Romero is the daughter of Mexican immigrants from Orizaba, Veracruz. She is an educator, business owner, and travels the country (via Zoom now because of COVID) teaching first generation youth how to go to college, stay in college, and graduate. Angela worked in high schools and at Oklahoma State University coordinating the RISE Program and overseeing Hispanic/Latino Affairs. As she became a subject matter expert in university first year retention, Ms. Vivar developed a campus wide scholarship program and initiatives for first year and first generation students OSU. Soon after, Angela took a leap of faith and started her own education consulting and workshop facilitation business.

Angela currently goes to daily Mass, serves as the only Mexican American woman on her local United Way Board, is a former Miss Oklahoma Latina, Miss Hispanic OSU, two-time president of the Hispanic Student Association, an Emerging Leader Under 40, a Oklahoma NextGen award winner in Education, and was awarded the Golden Torch award at Oklahoma State University. She joyfully served the nation’s largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization, UnidosUS, for six years. Angela holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and Spanish from Oklahoma Sate University and a Masters in Education in School Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma. Her fondest memory is gliding through the kitchen as a child, pretending to be an ice-skating Olympic champion as her mom applauded her “triple axles.”

Mr. Wortham started his TSAS Board of Trustees tenure during the summer of 2020. He is a member of the career advisory management staff of Tulsa Technology Centers, and previously worked as an Adolescent Health Specialist for Youth Services of Tulsa.

Mr. Wortham is a passionate musician and social advocate, and is a long-standing member of the music and arts community of Tulsa.

In his spare time he enjoys making and performing music and spending time with his family.
