Licensed Student Counselor Support

I look forward to going to work every day to assist the students of TSAS. I enjoy traveling, gardening, and reading. I am married and have a son who attends my alma mater, OSU. We have two cats, and one dog. I dream of living on a small acreage of land, keeping bees, and growing organic fruits and vegetables.

My name is Brittney James. I teach Special Education. Teaching gives me joy. I love being around my family, we have Sunday dinners each month. Last summer, I was introduced to the world of baking! I travel with my husband and we try to experience different cultures and traditions wherever we go. We are expecting our first bundle of joy in September, Titus James.

I do the work that I do because I have realized that everyone is capable of learning. Some student’s learn different than others. It encourages me when a student masters a goal or no longer needs extensive services through IEP services. The reason I teach, is because as a teacher I am able to be apart of a village that helps mold a child into a successful adult.

High School Counselor Support

I am a 4th generation Tulsan and 3rd generation OSU Alum. I love being outside, every dog that’s ever lived, candy & The Office. I am married to a TSAS alumnus (class of 2004) and together we are raising a future TSAS grad (Class of 2030) who we think is pretty great. I enjoy reading, politics and a strong cup of tea.

I work with our kids because I believe the strength and beauty of the future exists in our young people and it is an extreme honor to get to walk alongside teenagers as they move through high school. I love being part of a community that honors students autonomy & humanity first and helps them build resilience in an ever changing world.

As well as a teacher, I am a Board Certified Music Therapist and have experience working with long-term/chronic pediatric patients at a children’s hospital. Working at TSAS has inspired me to go back to school to pursue a master’s in special education. TSAS has also gifted me with a new passion: learning, and helping others to do the same. I’m obsessed with my cats, and I like to get outside as much as possible.

I teach to ensure ALL students have equitable education and can reach their ambitious life goals. We are all still learning.
