People often ask “You are a state funded public school, why do you need the extra money?” Only 80% of our State funding goes to academic programs and teacher’s salaries. The remaining portion, about $328,000, goes to building/facility expenses and Charter fees, whereas traditional public schools are able to use this additional 20% directly for students. Our goal is to raise this this 20% shortfall to enhance student learning and offer enriched educational opportunities.

REMARKABLE GRADUATES:
Because TSAS is a public charter school it charges $0 tuition and selects students by lottery from all zip codes in the Tulsa Public School district, yet it provides results comparable to private school.
- Our students consistently score in the top tier statewide for API and ACT scores, as well as above the national averages (#2 in Tulsa county for 2010-11).
- 99% of our 2011 class went on to college…pursuing arts, engineering, earth sciences, architecture and other vocations that take them around the world.
OUR GOAL:
We are moving into our 11th year, producing awesome student outcomes. But we need your financial help to produce even better results!
Our 2011-2012 annual appeal goal is to have 100% of families contribute. Donations can be as small or as large as you feel comfortable. Last year we raised $54,000 in annual appeal with the average donation amount of $150. Your contribution not only supports the school but allows us to leverage your support to win grants.
Grant writers look closely at the percent of contributions by students, parents, alumni and friends of TSAS. Your support in the annual appeal is critical to basic school operations and grant funding…..which all directly enhance student outcomes.
WHAT DOES YOUR DONATION PAY FOR:
Last year your donations were used to help transform the school and academic programs, provide hands on curriculum, field trips, replacement textbooks, and have an awesome all-school orientation day at Camp Loughridge.
In addition, money raised goes to many excellent causes…
- AP and/or Advanced Courses in Science, Math and Literature
- Additional Course Offerings in Arts, Sciences and Languages
- Our Partnership with the YMCA for Health & Fitness
- Updated science lab tables and chairs
This year, we are in the process of strategically planning for a facility move. Your donation will help us transition into a new facility that will allow us to better provide the innovative instruction and relational learning environment that have become our hallmarks.
