Please join us on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 7:00 for the annual TSAS Town Hall meeting at New Haven United Methodist Church .  Current students and parents, as well as newly accepted students and parents are welcome to attend.  Find out why students choose to attend TSAS over other public high schools and why our teachers choose to teach at TSAS!  Find out what is expected of our students (and parents), and see how you can be involved to make the TSAS community as successful as it has been and will continue to be for many years!  Enjoy the rockin’ sounds of the TSAS Jazz combo!  We look forward to seeing you Monday evening, March 22 from 7 to 8:30 pm. at 5603 South New Haven Ave.

Introducing TSAS’s first annual literary anthology, Ex Cineribus (Out of the ashes). We’re looking for submissions from all TSAS students. Literary and visual arts of all kinds, including short stories, poetry, essays, photography, and drawing/painting, can be submitted. All written works must be submitted via email. Visual art can be submitted by filling out a submission form and depositing it into the Ex Cineribus dropbox in the fishbowl. If you have questions or would like to submit your work, email us at excineribusjournal@gmail.com.

Friday at 3:00pm is the deadline for applications for the 2010-2011 school year.

The lottery to determine incoming students will be held on Tuesday, February 23rd at 3:30 pm. The public is invited.

In addition, the restaurant night at Cosi has been rescheduled for Friday, February 5th from 5-9.

Your contribution is very important. Please visit the Annual Appeal link on the TSAS web page. You can donate directly through the Donate button or send a check to the TSAS office. Remember that donations prior to the end of the year count as a 2009 tax deduction.

We are working to develop a mailing to all current and former TSAS families. This mailing is expected to be sent in January. We have experienced some delays in this mailing. The most significant is the difficulty is sorting through all the information on former and current TSAS families to develop a mailing list. Another delay is the fact that we have worked to minimize the cost of the mailing through volunteer contributions; however, we have experienced some delay in working around our volunteers schedules. While the letter and information will be sent in January as a current TSAS family you can visit the Annual Appeal link at tsas.org and make your contribution now.

If you are interested in the becoming a part of the Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences community, we have several opportunities for you to gain more information:

• shadowing starts on December 1st and continues until February18th. For more information, please see our shadowing page.
• We will also be holding two open houses on December 8th and January 28th from 6:30 to 8pm.This is a great opportunity for parents to see the facilities and meet the teachers. Parents and students are welcome.

Tickets are on sale now for Serenade Night 2009!

The 9th Annual Serenade Night will be held on November 7th at the Elk’s Lodge, 5335 S Harvard Ave. This year’s theme is Phoenix Rising and we know you are going to have a great time!

For those of you who have never been to Serenade Night, it is the TSAS event of the year. You will see performances by the Jazz Bands, Musical Theatre and Orchestra. Also, work of art from the Art and Photography classes will be on display and for sale. If you have a sweet tooth, desserts and beverages will be served. And if that wasn’t enough, we have a wonderful silent auction featuring great items from local shops and artists. The silent auction and desserts will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the performances will begin at 7:00.

Tickets are $10 each and are available online or in the fishbowl at TSAS.
