8th Grade Shadowing

8th grade student shadowing is available December 1 through February 18 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:50 am to 12:15 pm, which will include lunch. Please send money with your student for lunch ($3.00-$5.00).

To schedule your student, we prefer that you please email shadow@tsas.org. If you do not have access to e-mail, you can call TSAS at 828-7727 to schedule your student. We need to know:

  • the name of the prospective student
  • the names of both parents
  • telephone numbers where the parents can be reached during the school day
  • An e-mail address where a parent can be contacted is helpful, if one is available.

A TSAS parent volunteer will respond to shadowing requests made to TSAS either by e-mail or by telephone, and she will contact parents to schedule a date for your student to shadow. Please allow at least 48 hours for a response to your request.

Eligibility

  • To apply to TSAS, students must live in Tulsa Public School district, either attending TPS, private school or home school. The application deadline for school year 2010-2011 is Friday, February 19 at 3 pm. If TSAS receives more applications than available space, incoming students are selected through a lottery. If a lottery is necessary, it is scheduled for Tuesday, February 23 at 3:30 pm and is open to the public.
  • Applications will be available starting on Monday, November 30 and must be picked up at TSAS.
  • The current school enrollment is a maximum of 275 students, with a freshman class of about 80-85.

Open Houses

  • OPEN HOUSES are scheduled for Tuesday, December 8, 2009 and Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 6:30-8:00 pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to see the facilities and meet the teachers. Parents and students are welcome.

About TSAS

  • We are a school of choice, with a college preparatory curriculum. We offer a range of 17 AP classes, plus visual arts, jazz band, orchestra, photography, drama, musical theatre, and a health and fitness program from the Thornton YMCA. TSAS does not offer athletics, transportation, nor free lunches, and does not have a dedicated special education teacher on staff.
  • TSAS is a free, public charter school, sponsored by TPS. Since we are relatively small, our staff and our student body all know each other. We are able to work more closely with individual students to help them towards better understanding and comprehension. We endeavor to make the curriculum challenging in order to better prepare our students for success at the university level.
